Synthetic Methods

Synthetic Methods

The first meeting of the new edition of DONE will address the mutations of the image ecosystem due to the sudden rise of new models of creation and synthetic representations, among them, the ones that are generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

What methods can we adopt to understand synthetic images? How can we learn to live with them and intervene them? How can we reconstruct imaginaries or epistemologies, evolving towards other ways of seeing?

In this session experts and future experts will share their experiences and concerns and propose models of representation and tactical intervention in this rapidly changing ecosystem.

Through an agile and diverse program –featuring talks, projections and other experimental formats– participants will address the opportunities these transformations offer and promote new methods to be used in this growing synthetic visual imagination, with photography as its starting point, towards its antagonistic state: the probabilistic image of AI. Between classic documentary photography and the anti-documentary automatic image, there are many practices that propose mediations and hybrid alliances that affect sociopolitical transformation, both on an individual and collective scale.
