Turn off the cameras
12-14 // 19-21 March 2024
Workshops for high school students at FundaciĆ³ Collserola
Exercises that explore teenage reality within a context of image oversaturation and identities forged within the framework of an image in an incipient process of denaturalization.
Workshops led by Roc Herms and Carlos Carbonell.
The project is conceived as a series of experiments that will attempt to generate reflection on some of the most relevant phenomena that challenge teenagers today, stemming from their presence in digital environments mainly shaped by images, many of them synthetically generated. Aspects such as the configuration of their identity, the hijacking of their attention span, the prevailing misinformation, and the capitalist policies, biases, and interests hidden behind these media, as well as the coexistence with artificial agents that modulate all of the aforementioned.
Participants will explore each other through their digital identity; we will propose photography challenges without cameras where they will have to exercise the idea of the image as memory, and they will confront the biases of image generators by redefining unconventional concepts of their reality.
